Applied Economics
University of Manchester, B.Sc. Economics Year 1
Semester 2, 2023/24
Semester 2, 2022/23
Semester 2, 2021/22
Role: Unit Director, Lecturer and Tutor
About: I developed the current course structure and syllabus and wrote all the material. This unit introduces students to common data methods, techniques, and problems used by economists to address relevant economic questions. The main purpose of the unit is to provide students with a strong technical ground so they can test and interpret economic theories and hypotheses using data as evidence. The course has three main pillars: (i) discuss relevant economic elements, theories, and questions in both the micro and macro spectrums; (ii) apply statistical methods to real economic data; and (iii) teach the basics of R as a relevant software for empirical analysis.

Topics in Philosophy, Politics and Economics
University of Manchester, B.A. Philosophy, Politics and Economics Year 3
Semester 1, 2023/24
Semester 1, 2022/23
Role: Lecturer and Tutor
About: The aims of this module are: (i) to explore the topic of inequality from the perspective of each of the three PPE disciplines, (ii) to develop your ability to evaluate economic and social policies and place the study of these policies in their broader context and (iii) to develop students’ understanding of the interactions between aspects of the three disciplines that make up the PPE programme. On completion of this unit successful students will be able to demonstrate critical capabilities to develop and sustain independent analysis and argument within and between the constituent subjects (Politics, Philosophy and Economics), and to apply such argument to a range of policy-relevant issues focusing on inequality.

About: The aims of this course are threefold. To introduce students to basic modelling techniques in the analysis of cross-section, panel and time series economic data; to provide students with sufficient 7 econometric training to read the applied literature in core journals which use these standard techniques; and to prepare students for a dissertation topic that analyses either cross-section, panel or time series data using basic econometric techniques.

Complexity Economics and Agent-Based Models
Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Post-Graduate Programme in Economics
Semester 1, 2023/24
Semester 1, 2022/23
Semester 1, 2020/21
Role: Lecturer and Tutor
About: The course aims to teach simulation modelling techniques, providing an overview of agent-based macroeconomics, both theoretical and applied perspectives, with a focus on practical exercises, including technical aspects and coding techniques. For this purpose, we used several innovative tools, including a GitHub environment where all students and teachers could create a network, interact, and share their ongoing coding developments.
